Early summer, spanning from June to Mid-July, is when Colorado’s landscapes truly start to come alive. Snowmelt from the mountains fuels rushing streams and lush greenery, while wildflowers bloom in full force, creating a colorful and vibrant setting. Temperatures during this time are generally mild and comfortable, especially at higher elevations. St. Mary’s Glacier, a popular hiking destination near Idaho Springs, is a stunning Colorado summer wedding “venue” sitting at 11,000 feet elevation and just under an hour from Denver. This micro wedding and elopement location offers breathtaking views of an alpine lake, mountain ridgeline, evergreen forests, and the “glacier.” A moderate 1.6-mile out-and-back hike from the parking lot takes you to the lake’s edge, where you’ll be surrounded by stunning scenery.
During summer, St. Mary’s Glacier is an incredible escape from the heat, with crisp mountain air and the possibility of lingering snow patches adding to the dramatic backdrop. Sunrise here can be particularly breathtaking, with orange alpenglow lighting up the surrounding ridgeline. Early morning also provides a more peaceful and private setting at this popular spot. Although no permit is required to get married here, parking fees apply and must be paid in cash.
Moraine Park Amphitheater

The amphitheater accommodates up to 30 guests, with a limit of 10 vehicles. A $300 Rocky Mountain National Park wedding permit is required, which can be applied for up to one year in advance. Summer dates tend to book up quickly, so it’s essential to plan ahead.
All vehicles not holding the wedding reservation that enter the park will need to purchase a $30 national park entrance pass. While this is the only wedding location in the park where you can set up an arch, you won’t find modern amenities like electricity or running water. It’s also one of the few ceremony sites in the park that allows dogs, as long as they’re kept on a leash and clearly disclosed in your application.

However, afternoon storms are common, so it’s best to plan a morning ceremony for the best weather and fewer crowds. And even in the middle of summer, you may still see patches of snow at the summit, adding to the mountain’s dynamic scenery.
As you ascend, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of surrounding mountains, valleys, and reservoirs. If you’re driving yourself, be mindful of the high elevation and steep ledges. While snow and ice won’t be an issue during summer, sudden weather changes can still lead to road closures due to thunderstorms, high winds, or other extreme conditions. You don’t need a permit for photos on the mountain, but if you’re planning a ceremony, you must obtain a permit and choose from designated locations. These include Crystal Reservoir, Interpretive Overlook, Halfway Picnic Grounds, Elk Park Trailhead, Glen Cove, and the Summit itself—imagine saying your vows at the very top of Colorado Springs!
Pikes Peak is surrounded by amenities in Colorado Springs and Woodland Park, including wedding vendors, world-class hotels, restaurants, and Airbnbs. It’s also close to incredible outdoor attractions like North Cheyenne Cañon Park, Garden of the Gods, Old Colorado City, and Manitou Springs, giving you plenty of options for post-wedding adventures.
If you’re looking for a Colorado summer wedding venue with jaw-dropping views and an unforgettable experience, Pikes Peak is hard to beat. Just be sure to check road conditions if you plan to drive, as sudden weather changes can cause closures.
Loveland Pass + Pass Lake

During early summer, you might spot patches of snow on the nearby mountain peaks, making it one of the best places in Colorado if you crave a mix of seasons. July and August bring colorful wildflowers, while late summer offers crisp air and a break from the heat.

If you’re looking for a unique summer wedding venue in Colorado, Cave of the Winds offers a one-of-a-kind experience—plus a cool escape from the summer heat.
