Watching their day come together made clear why Juniper is one of my favorite intimate wedding venues in Colorado.

Planning an Intimate Colorado Wedding at Juniper Lodge & Treehouses

Alissa and Taylor’s love story spans the country, with ties to Arizona, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Colorado, and Maine. When it came time to plan their wedding, they were torn between Maine and Colorado, which both offered the natural, forested environment they sought. They craved a cozy, magical forest wedding over dramatic mountain views, and, in the end, Colorado won them over.

The two knew from the start they wanted an intimate wedding. They wanted to spend their day fully present with their dear guests instead of rushing between endless acquaintances and knew they wanted a venue within two hours of Denver and under 7,500 ft in elevation.

The Planning Process

Alissa and Taylor reached out about 10 months before their wedding day, which ended up being the perfect amount of time for a stress-free wedding planning journey. After sharing a few venue suggestions, Juniper Lodge & Treehouses stood out to them right away. They loved the fairytale, forested feel of the entire property and the charming string lights over the ceremony site.

Although their original wedding date was unavailable at Juniper, the two stayed flexible and shifted their wedding date to accommodate venue availability. They planned their wedding for mid-May, which worked out great since the foothills are typically clear of snow and not too cold by that time. 

For their reception dinner, they wanted something close by that still felt special. We talked through a few great options, including Maggiano’s, North Italia, The Hampton Social, The Corner Office, and The Nickel. They ultimately chose Maggiano’s for the array of food and the space, and it turned out to be a crowd favorite for them and their guests.

Their Wedding Day at Juniper Lodge & Treehouses

Getting Ready

The morning began in Lakewood, where Alissa started with hair and makeup by Indie Bridal Co. Alissa and Taylor chose a sage green color palette for their day, with rustic and elegant details. I was particularly smitten with Alissa’s white boots with floral detailing! Once they were ready, we made the drive to Juniper Lodge & Treehouses.

Alissa finished getting ready in The Mountaineer’s Treehouse, with her mom present to help with the delicate buttons of her dress. It was a sweet, quiet moment shared between mother and daughter set among the treetops of Colorado’s evergreen forests.

Their First Look

Once Alissa was ready, she and Taylor shared their first look on the property’s wooden bridge. Even though they’d spent part of the morning getting ready together, Taylor hadn’t seen Alissa in her dress yet, so the anticipation was sweet. As soon as they saw each other, they both fell completely into the moment. And that experience is everything.

The Ceremony

Their ceremony took place under the twinkle lights of The Meadow Ceremony Site and felt like something out of a fairytale. Alissa’s brother walked her down the aisle, and a close family friend officiated. They exchanged vows followed by a unity ceremony. The whole experience was intimate, personal, and grounded.

Alissa and Taylor had already executed their marriage license in their home state, which is fairly common for couples planning a destination wedding. Family Photos

Following their ceremony, we documented family photos at The Meadow Ceremony Site. Family photos can sometimes feel overwhelming, but there are a few things that can make the process so much smoother. For Alissa and Taylor, we were prepared going in, so their family photos went smoothly and stayed enjoyable the whole time. The cloud cover that afternoon also gave the forest a soft, moody feel, especially with the string lights overhead.

The Wedding Reception at Maggiano’s

After family photos, everyone made their way to the reserved Dicarlo Room at Maggiano’s in Englewood for dinner. The food was phenomenal from start to finish, including baked mozzarella, meatballs, and Caesar salad to start, followed by crab cakes, rolls, fettuccine bolognese, salmon, and chicken parmesan with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Every bit of it was beautifully cooked.

Alissa and Taylor then cut into their gorgeous cake made by Azucar in Denver, marble on top and red velvet on the bottom, decorated with delicate flowers.

Although we’d originally planned to go to Chatfield State Park for sunset and blue hour portraits, Alissa and Taylor were having such a good time with their guests that we decided to pivot. Being present with the people they loved mattered more than sticking to the original plan, so they enjoyed a slow dinner with their guests before heading back to Juniper Lodge & Treehouses to close out the night.

Photos Around the Firepit

Back at Juniper Lodge & Treehouses, Alissa and Taylor enjoyed time around the firepit where Juniper staff had even left s’mores makings for the two of them. They cuddled up together, talked about the day they’d shared, and soaked in every moment. It was calm, quiet, and exactly the kind of ending they wanted.

When they were ready to wrap up the evening, they walked back to their treehouse, grabbed a couple of drinks, and enjoyed a few moments on the deck before finally calling it a night. Looking back, the whole day was so them: grounded, calm, fun, and focused on the people and moments that matter most. It’s the kind of wedding day that reminds me why I love photographing intimate weddings in Colorado’s forests.

Juniper Lodge & Treehouses Accommodations

Between the lodge and treehouses, Juniper sleeps up to 14 overnight guests, allowing you and your guests to stay on property.

The lodge has five private bedrooms with some overlooking the mountains, others facing the forest, and each with its own unique decor. Every room includes a private en suite bathroom, plush robes, complimentary coffee, and WiFi. Two of the rooms are also pet-friendly if you plan to include your 4-legged bestie. Guests staying in the lodge also have access to two lounges, a bar, decks, and a hot tub.

The treehouses sit just a short walk from the lodge and each include their own unique offering. One might have a porch swing, another a sauna, another a stocked turntable, so depending on which treehouse you book, your stay looks a little different. Each treehouse also comes with an en suite bathroom and an in-room coffee bar. Juniper launched two treehouses in 2025, with plans to expand to eight by 2030.

Whether you’re booking the Couple’s Elopement for a quiet night away or a wedding package with a full property buyout, Juniper’s accommodations make it easy to turn your wedding into a full getaway. And if you need more space for extra guests, there are several great lodging options within about 20 minutes of the property, too.

Wedding & Elopement Packages at Juniper Lodge & Treehouses

Juniper offers a few different package options depending on your guest count and wedding day needs, with current pricing ranging from $995 to $16,700+. Here’s a breakdown of each package.

Couple’s Elopement – Starting at $995

This package is just for the two of you. You’ll exchange vows at either The Meadow or the Mountain View Deck Ceremony Site, then stay the night in the lodge afterward, with the option to add extra nights if available. All-inclusive add-ons are available too, including hair and makeup, an officiant, cake, and more, so you can build out your day as much or as little as you want. Dates for this package are flexible and available year-round by request.

Intimate Ceremony – Starting at $6,200

This ceremony-only package includes a full property buyout to accommodate up to 50 wedding day guests and 14 overnight guests. A day-of ceremony coordinator is also included, along with rentals like a wood wedding arch, bench seating, welcome table, Bluetooth speaker, and string lights. A reception can’t be added directly to this package, though you can tack on a cocktail hour for an extra fee. Dates are flexible and available year-round by request.

Micro Wedding – Starting at $11,700

This package is built for up to 25 guests and includes both your ceremony and reception. Your ceremony can be held at The Meadow or the Mountain View Deck, with your reception on the Mountain View Deck afterward. You’ll get the same full property buyout for the night as the Intimate Ceremony package, plus rentals including tables, folding chairs, an AV system, and ceremony string lights. Couples are required to secure event management through McArthur Weddings & Events when booking this package. Notably, Juniper only holds 4 Saturdays for Micro Weddings each year, and booking is first come, first served.

Juniper Wedding – Starting at $16,700

This package offers the full Juniper experience for 26 to 50 guests and includes your ceremony, reception, and overnight stay for up to 14 guests. As with the Micro Wedding package, you can hold your ceremony at The Meadow or the Mountain View Deck, with your reception on the Mountain View Deck. Rentals include tables, folding chairs, an AV system with a microphone, and all the ceremony essentials. Couples are required to secure event management through McArthur Weddings & Events when booking this package. Only 8 Saturdays are available for this package each year, so it’s worth reaching out early to plan your Juniper wedding.

Add-Ons at Juniper

Juniper Lodge & Treehouses also offers a few extras to consider including in your wedding day. If you want live music, one of their staff members offers acoustic guitar and singing for both ceremony and reception, along with emcee services, starting at $550. They also have a small inventory of decor available to rent, including arch fabric, lanterns, and table linens.

If you’re planning a bar for your reception, Juniper handles that too, since all alcohol on the property must be purchased through them. Their bar packages range from $9 to $20 per person per hour depending on your selections, with bartending priced separately at $55 per hour plus gratuity.

Ceremony & Reception Spaces at Juniper Lodge & Treehouses

The Meadow

The Meadow sits about a five minute hike from the lodge, tucked into a clearing surrounded by evergreen and ponderosa pine trees. It’s set up amphitheater style, with custom wood benches handmade from salvaged roller-coaster rides, a wood ceremony arch, and string lights overhead. Because the trail has some uneven terrain, The Meadow isn’t wheelchair accessible, and guests with mobility challenges may need a little extra time and help getting there.

Mountain View Deck

The Mountain View Deck works as either your ceremony or reception site, seating up to 50 guests with mountain views stretching beyond. Farm tables and fruitwood chairs give the space a polished, rustic feel, and the indoor lounge opens to the deck through a wall of glass doors. Six overhead heaters ensure comfort, as this deck serves as the backup ceremony location for most packages in the event of inclement weather.

Treelined Driveway

Connected to the Mountain View Deck, the treelined driveway is a great spot to host cocktail hour or dancing. It’s paved and lined with trees, and can hold cocktail tables, lounge furniture, lawn games, a mobile bar, or even a live band, depending on how you want to use the space.

The Bar & Lounge

The lower-level bar and lounge opens directly onto the Mountain View Deck, blending indoor and outdoor spaces into one. Inside, you’ll find a cozy brown leather couch, deep green walls, and colorful rugs that give the space a warm, inviting appeal. You can rearrange the furniture to make room for cocktail tables, or keep the couches and rugs in place if you’d rather your guests have a relaxed spot to unwind.

Good to Know Before You Book

Getting Ready at Juniper Lodge & Treehouses

There’s no dedicated bridal suite at Juniper, so you’ll need a prior night’s reservation at Juniper or a second location to start your morning. A lot of my couples get ready nearby and then head to Juniper for their finishing touches.

Accessibility

The property is built on natural terrain, so it’s worth considering accessibility if you have guests with mobility concerns. The Bar & Lounge and Mountain View Deck are both stair-free and easy to reach. The Meadow, on the other hand, sits at the end of a short forest trail with a gentle incline, which means wheelchairs and walkers won’t be able to make the trip, and mobility-impaired guests may require assistance.

Arrival Times

Your vendors can start arriving as early as 11am on your wedding day to begin setup. You can arrive when rooms open for check-in at 3pm, and guests who aren’t staying overnight can begin arriving at 3:30pm.

Planning Support

For the Micro Wedding and Juniper Wedding packages, Juniper requires you to hire McArthur Weddings & Events for day-of logistics. The Intimate Ceremony package includes day-of ceremony coordination, and no coordination services are included with the Couple’s Elopement package. Never forget, I’m still with you through the entire planning process leading up to your wedding, offering planning assistance, preparing your timeline, and coordinating with your other vendors to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.

Alcohol

Because Juniper holds the liquor license for the property, every drink has to be purchased directly through them. There’s no option to bring in your own alcohol for any part of your celebration.

Catering

Juniper doesn’t offer in-house catering, so you’ll be responsible for hiring a caterer to provide your onsite meal or arranging dining offsite. Juniper requires that you get approval for any new caterers that haven’t worked at the venue before.

Parking

Parking is limited, with space for about 10 vehicles between guests and vendors combined.

Consequently, it might be worth carpooling or asking Juniper about transportation options they’d recommend for shuttling guests.
